The word agape is extremely special to me. Before coming on the race I had never heard of it let alone understood it, but I think so far it has definitely been the theme of my race.

The first time I experienced agape love was actually at my first ministry in Thailand. We were working at an orphanage for kids who are either infected with or affected by hiv or aids. This orphanage ironically was called Agape. This was an extremely special place and will always hold a little piece of my heart. From the nannies to the kids to the staff everyone carried so much hope and joy. Everyday was a blessing to get to go back and this was the first time I had understood how you can fall in love in such a short time. These kids changed my life and loving them was so easy because they loved us just as they are called to. Every task that we were given there was so easy to do because the Lord surrounded this place.

Malaysia was an extremely difficult month for me. With not many ministry opportunities, it left a ton of space to hear the Lord’s voice and find what he has in store for me. Because a lot of our days were filled with ATL (ask the Lord), I was able to seek my identity through and in Christ. In doing this He showed me that no matter how many times I fall on my face, get angry with him, and mess up , He still sees me as HIS treasured daughter. One of the only ministries we did have in Malaysia was serving in a village in the middle of the jungle. When we arrived there , we found there was no running water, electricity, or clean food, however for what they didn’t have in supplies they were completely filled up the entire village with the Holy Spirit. These people were on fire for the Lord and it was inspiring to me. In every house we visited we prayed over people and they were so loving and joyful- agape love.

After only a couple weeks here in Costa Rica, it is evident that God is definitely on the move here in this country. Our first ministry we served at a church in a small town on the outskirts of San Jose. When arriving there, we had no idea what they would want us to help out with or do but we quickly learned they just wanted us to spend time with them. At the ministry, four kids actually lived in the church because they were taken out of a high risk home and had been there for about 3 months. Working there was amazing. While being in the middle of painting, we would get calls almost everyday with offers from the people in the church to take us to the beach, to have us over for Christmas, and take us to see Costa Rica like locals. These people took us in as family and showed us so much love when it was suppose to be the other way around.

Before I left to become a missionary, I had this idea in my head that I would be the person who would show these people the unconditional love of our father, but the more time I spend overseas the more I am learning  that these people are actually teaching me much more. Everywhere I go, the people love us so well and inspire me everyday. Despite not having a lot whether its money, knowledge of the Holy Spirit, or happiness these people around the world give those around them so much love. The Holy Spirit is so present everywhere we go and is surrounding HIS people with agape love and I have been so blessed to play the smallest part of it. Thank you to everyone who has not only covered me in prayer but who have also cover the people we are working with in prayer. I am currently only $300 short dollars always from being fully funded and being able to continue on this crazy adventure the Lord has me on. With only two days left to fundraise it would be such a blessing if you would help support me in having more amazing stories like these. If you are feeling led to donate you can hit the donate bar above and donate any amount you are led to. Thank you again to everyone who had followed my journey.

With much love… -Han 🙂

  1. This is such an awesome summary of the awesome things we’ve been doing! It IS so amazing how these people are ministering to us even though we didn’t expect it to be that way. Proud of you!

  2. It is so amazing the many forms of live we are able to see when we stop and just take in who God is. Hannah you have taught me so much about love from the moment you were born. Thank you for sharing your journey and being so transparent through it all. It is in this vulnerability that God’s love can truly be seen. You are loved.

  3. Nothing is wasted with the Lord! What we give out we also get back. Thank you for sharing your journey through blogs and giving us who read a taste of His goodness and love.

  4. Agape. It is such a beautiful love. Your post is such a reality to my “why” I go global. The love and hope others have in Christ, even with so little, that is what our local seems to be missing. “Stuff” can’t fill where this love should be. Oh how beautiful the day will be when it’s agape for both local and global. I’m so proud of you guys and pray for you all continually.
